Dr. Raul Onrubia was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1988. He received the BSc+5 degree in telecommunications engineering specialized in communications in 2012, and the MSc+2 degree in Research on Information and Communication Technologies in 2014, both from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. In 2011 he joined the Passive Remote Sensing Group from UPC where he is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in GNSS-Reflectometry focused in instrument development, in particular in RF hardware design, simulation, and test, and antenna array calibration.
He graduated the Ph.D. program in 2020. Now, he is working in the detection of RFI signals in microwave radiometry products, mainly SMOS. He is also part of the SMOS calibration team. He has a background in antenna arrays (design, simulation and calibration), microwave circuits (design, simulation, implementation, testing and calibration), the use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems for Reflectometry (GNSS-R) (simulation, and data processing), and detection and mitigation of RFI signals in GNSS-R.
