Christoph Herbert was born in Marktheidenfeld/Germany. In 2010, he obtains a certificate of completion of a vocational training as an Electronic Technician for Equipment and Systems at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Germany. In 2016, he completes a Bachelor Diploma in Physics at RWTH Aachen. In 2018, he graduates with a Double Degree Joint Master Diploma in Applied Geophysics at Delft University of Technology, ETH Zürich and RWTH Aachen. He is currently working within the Passive Remote Sensing Group as part of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications with a focus on methods to retrieve geophysical parameters using SMOS mission data.
