Ignasi Corbella was born in Barcelona in 1955. He received the “Enginyer” and “Doctor Enginyer” degrees in Telecommunication, both from “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya” (UPC), Barcelona-Spain in 1977 and 1983 respectively. In 1976 he joined the School of Telecommunication Engineering of UPC as a Research Assistant in the Microwave Laboratory, were he worked on design and characterization of microwave integrated circuits. During 1979 he worked at Thomson-CSF in Paris (France) on microwave oscillators design. He became assistant professor of UPC in 1982, Associate Professor in 1986 and Full Professor in 1993. He is currently teaching microwaves at undergraduate level in the same institution and has designed and taught graduate courses on non-linear microwave circuits. During the school year 1998/99 he worked at NOAA/Environmental Technology Laboratory in Boulder (Colorado-USA) as a guest researcher developing methods for radiometer calibration and data analysis.
